VOL 1: SAINTS
Special Circumstance & Crises – for Ministry, Counseling & Proclamation
Another unique chapter deals exclusively with one mother’s journey from the depths of despair at the loss of a 3 year old daughter (20 years earlier), and a 21 year old daughter killed in a car crash. The mother’s recovery story is one of spiritual growth and resilience, of renewed faith in a God she had forsaken for letting her down. She then became a strong, faithful parish nurse, hospice volunteer, active church member and still a lifelong friend.
It is an inspiring Journey as told in the mother’s own words and buttressed with the funeral sermon, Memorial Gift & Poem, and more.
The Appendices includes some unique and original resources that may be needed occasionally. Many more resources can be used, by clergy or laity, in every funeral or during personal devotions. One such obscure resource is a Protestant Prayer Service designed for a Visitation. I had one request in 35 years – for which I wrote this service. I heard later from a daughter of our congregation, whom I sponsored at ordination, say she needed such a “service” in her Synod – several synods/states away. Such a service at the visitation was the norm there - though not in any setting I had served previously. Having such resources in hand helps one be confident and comfortable – ready for most any new occasion to minister.
