VOL - II: WITNESSES

IT TAKES ALL KINDS to be in the GREAT CLOUD of WITNESSES

Each life and every undertaking is difficult in its own ways.  This collaboration has not been as lengthy a process as writing (what turned out to be) Volume 1 – Saints I Have Known and Buried This Volume 2 is different because I have invited others to contribute from their files and expertise, their storehouse of experiences in grief counseling and funeral planning & preaching.  Fortunately each of them have seen the value of this kind of book, and have become Contributors.  Thanks to each of them – each of whom I have known within the context of our doing Ministry together somehow, somewhere along the line and over the years.

Overview

AUDIENCE:  Clergy, Celebrants, those in Grief Ministries and Lay People who need to be encouraged to articulate those Values and Character traits that our loved ones lived.

We can’t stop the wrongs of life, but we can navigate around them with good counsel and faithful leaders.  I hope other preachers, celebrants and counselors are encouraged in their Ministry by our Leadership and the assistance we have offered in this 2nd Volume of Tributes and Sermons.  This audience includes those professionally tasked with this Ministry, but also those called and trained in Lay ministries within parish settings, like those doing various Visitation ministries within their congregation.

This is a continuation of my first book: Saints I Have Known and Buried.  This “sequel” includes more Samples of my Tributes and Sermons, while enlisting colleagues to contribute their favorite Tributes and Sermons that have provided comfort and hope to their church members and families. It also included Tributes by lay members and several Articles about writing them.

Target Audience

For First Call Pastors, Celebrants, and those involved in Grief Ministries.

For Lay People who want encouragement to speak about those Values and Character traits that their loved one lived and we will remember;

For those who enjoy seeing how the lives of others were spent and their faith expressed, then how they are remembered by Pastors and Family in gratitude, while growing in our own Faith.

This book is for Clergy and Laity.

For clergy, primarily first-call pastors, that want more confidence in preaching at funerals with grave circumstances, or for counselling with grieving families.

It is also for individuals and families who are encouraged by pastors or others to personalize a funeral service by creating and sharing a Tribute. It can also help a family navigate issues of closure and justice at the time of a tragic or untimely death.
