Devotionals
During the COVID times of Distance-Worship (as well as video taping, live streaming, and Zoom, etc) and because of fewer opportunities for visitations and Bible studies in his Interim congregation, we began weekly, illustrated DEVOs / (Devotionals). Some are available here for you to experience Pastor Miller’s approach to Ministry / Scripture / Prayer and Social Issues.
Fallible Mythologies and Mazes
Differences of opinion and wanting God “on our side” has created deep divisions in our nation. It is due to “tone” and “attitude” amongst us sinners. No one is infallible so we have to work out our dissensions and disagreements.
Tributes ~ for Memory’s Sake
I encourage families to write Tributes for Loved One’s funerals. My book promotes it. Often a family just needs a “nudge” and outline to share the Values and Virtues, the Character and Contributions of this one who has died.
I Corinthians 13
Being so familiar with this LOVE Chapter by St Paul, is there a translation that can jog us out of familiar interpretations and stale images? This is a Unique version I combined from many others.
A Rattler's Bite and Confederate Toxins
A rattlesnake can die of its own venom when injected into its own bloodstream. Hate can also poison our culture, blind us from being open to others, and make us a haunted shell of our better selves.
LOSS, DEATH & GRIEF
Differences of opinion and wanting God “on our side” has created deep divisions in our nation. It is due to “tone” and “attitude” amongst us sinners. No one is infallible so we have to work out our dissensions and disagreements.
Alcohol & Privilege
We look through colored lenses and distorted windows every day. When we see racism, like alcoholism, it is hard to talk about or change. Let’s at least acknowledge we have a “privilege” problem to start our conversation.
Encouragement and Instructions
Some pastors may need encouragement in helping grieving families focus on the gift of their loved one’s life. The way we construct our memories and tell the loved one’s “story” will enhance the legacy families have to cherish. Indeed I want to help our people to see and celebrate all the positives we can as they put a “face” on this faith of ours. We do so most significantly as we faithfully proclaim Christ crucified and risen. We also proclaim Christ as the Way, the Truth, and the Life in our sermons.
